Energy Ranch is a large-scale energy and digital infrastructure platform designed to deliver firm, reliable power directly to next-generation data center deployments through a behind-the-meter (BTM) architecture. Located in Frio County, Texas, the project is positioned within one of the most infrastructure-rich energy corridors in North America, with proximity to major natural gas pipeline systems and future high-voltage transmission development. The campus is designed to deliver an initial 250 MW of power beginning in early 2028, with the ability to scale to 1–5 GW of total capacity, supporting the growing power requirements of hyperscale cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Energy Ranch has been developed in collaboration with experienced engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partners and leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure the project benefits from proven power generation technologies, disciplined engineering standards, and reliable equipment supply chains. These relationships support a defensible development strategy centered on delivering dispatchable power capacity with high reliability, operational flexibility, and scalable expansion capability. By integrating industry-leading equipment and experienced engineering expertise, Energy Ranch is designed to meet the performance expectations of institutional-quality infrastructure assets and the uptime requirements of hyperscale data center operators.
The project’s behind-the-meter power structure provides a significant advantage relative to traditional grid-dependent developments. By generating electricity on-site and delivering power directly to tenants, Energy Ranch reduces exposure to transmission congestion risk, interconnection queue delays, and power price volatility. This approach enables greater certainty of power availability, faster development timelines, and the ability to align capacity deployment with tenant demand. The BTM model also supports long-term contracting structures that resemble traditional infrastructure investments, including capacity-based revenue streams and predictable cash flow profiles.
Energy Ranch is supported by Wrangler Infrastructure, the firm’s integrated midstream platform, which develops power-linked natural gas infrastructure designed to provide reliable fuel supply for on-site generation. This integration strengthens long-term operational certainty and enhances the resilience of the overall energy system supporting the campus.
As demand for digital infrastructure continues to accelerate, Energy Ranch is designed to provide a scalable solution capable of supporting multi-phase expansion aligned with tenant growth. The platform reflects HC Capital’s strategy of developing infrastructure assets that connect reliable energy supply with high-demand end users, creating opportunities to generate attractive long-term, risk-adjusted returns for institutional investors while supporting the continued growth of cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
